The traditional partnership between SOS Children's Villages and gardening power tool manufacturer VIKING is now in its twelfth year. For 2017, it has been decided to support the Tyrolean SOS Children's Villages in Imst and Eastern Tyrol. Michaela Schalk from SOS Children's Villages recently visited the company's headquarters in the Tyrolean lowlands, where she was presented with a cheque for € 5,000 by VIKING Marketing and Sales Manager Wolfgang Simmer.
The SOS Children's Villages slogan "Everything that children need growing up, every day." resonated very strongly with VIKING. SOS Children's Villages focuses its efforts on helping children and young people living in precarious conditions, providing them with a springboard for an independent life with real prospects. To make this springboard for children and young people as effective as possible, the emphasis is on meeting their basic needs. A loving and secure home, balanced nutrition and access to proper sanitation and medical care are the building blocks for meeting these needs.
Through its financial assistance, VIKING is helping to create the framework for providing children with everything they need growing up. The company's donation of €5,000 will give 25 children access to a programme of productive and varied activities for 100 days – in a supportive and secure environment.
VIKING, based in Langkampfen, is part of the STIHL Group and produces and sells lawn mowers and other gardening power tools. SOS Children's Villages is a private, religiously and politically independent, globally operating social welfare organisation, which was founded in 1949 by Hermann Gmeiner in Innsbruck. The first SOS Children's Village was created in Imst, Tyrol, during the same year.
