The gardening power tool manufacturer VIKING was delighted to receive the internationally prestigious "Universal Design Award 2013", just in time for the upcoming gardening season. The design prize was won by the MB 448 TC lawn mower, a model of the completely re-designed VIKING 4 Series, which was recently introduced to the market with great success.
A special feature of this award is the fact that it is the only competition of its kind in which the entries are assessed by both an expert panel of designers and a 100-strong panel of critical consumers. Evaluation criteria include simple and intuitive operation, safety, degree of innovation, sustainability and environmental friendliness. The awards were recently presented to the winners in Munich at the "Munich Creative Business Week".
The award-winning lawn mower is available in several model versions within the new 4 Series, with three different drive types – as petrol, battery-powered and electric lawn mowers.
VIKING GmbH, based in Langkampfen, produces and sells lawn mowers, robotic mowers, ride-on mowers, scarifiers, garden shredders and tillers. The entire battery-powered product range for the STIHL Group is also assembled at VIKING. With 297 employees, VIKING achieved a turnover of 133.6 million euros in 2011. Sales partners for the VIKING gardening power tools are exclusively service-providing specialist dealers.
