The Tyrolean regional government has awarded Nikolas Stihl, Chairman of STIHL Advisory and Supervisory Boards, the Order of the Tyrolean Eagle in Gold. Nikolas Stihl received this award for his successful work as Managing Director of the STIHL subsidiary VIKING in Langkampfen from 1993 to 2011. VIKING has been a member of the STIHL Group since 1992. The award was presented by the President of the Tyrolean regional government Günther Platter on 25 October 2012 in Innsbruck. Nikolas Stihl says: "I am delighted with this award, which also demonstrates the importance of our family-run company for the positive development of the Tyrolean region over the last twenty years."
The purpose of the Order of the Tyrolean Eagle is to honour people whose visit to or residence in the Tyrol or whose outstanding amicable relationship with the Tyrolean region are of particular political, economic or cultural importance for the Tyrolean state.
A clear declaration of confidence in the Tyrolean location was recently made by VIKING and STIHL with the large, recently inaugurated extension building with an investment volume of over 13 million euros. VIKING GmbH produces and sells lawn mowers, robotic mowers, ride-on mowers, scarifiers, garden shredders and tillers. Furthermore, the entire battery-powered product range for the STIHL Group is assembled at VIKING. With 297 employees, VIKING achieved a turnover of 133.6 million euros in 2011 through exclusive sales partners are service-providing specialist dealers.
